Community Housing Enabler
Location: Northallerton, North Yorkshire.
Salary: From £37,035 to £41,511 per annum
Grade: JK
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full time, 37 Hours per week
The successful candidate can be based at any of the North Yorkshire Council offices. Hybrid working available.
Are you passionate about affordable housing and community empowerment? North Yorkshire Council is looking for a Community Housing Enabler (CHE) to champion and deliver Community Led Housing (CLH) across the county of North Yorkshire.
This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of rural and coastal communities, supporting local groups to identify housing needs and develop sustainable, affordable homes.
What You’ll Be Doing
As part of the Partnerships and Enabling Team, you’ll:
- Apply community organisation and outreach development to advance CLH initiatives.
- Liaise with stakeholders to facilitate planning, funding, and delivery.
- Engage with parish councils, landowners, developers, and Registered Providers to identify and promote CLH opportunities.
- Support community groups through every stage of housing delivery.
- Conduct site appraisals, housing need surveys, and planning support.
- Influence local housing policy and strategy.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience in community development, housing, planning, or regeneration
- Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills
- Knowledge of affordable housing delivery and rural housing issues
- Ability to work independently across a large geographical area
- A collaborative, proactive, and solution-focused approach
