About the Role
As a Children’s Residential and Edge of Care Worker, you’ll play a vital role in supporting young people aged around 12 to 18 (and up to 25 in some cases). You’ll work across different settings, including residential children’s homes, supported accommodation for 16-17 year olds, and community-based outreach for those at risk of entering care.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supporting Children and Young People with:
- Daily routines and emotional support
- Fun activities like sports, hobbies, and trips
- Education and learning
- Visiting family and friends
Professional Social Care Responsibilities Including:
- Writing reports and keeping records
- Attending meetings
- Safeguarding responsibilities
- Participating in statutory meetings
- Following Children’s Home regulations
We are looking for resilient, flexible, and motivated people who have experience working with or volunteering with older children and young people (approx.12 – 18 and young adults up to 25).
To fully support you in your role, you will participate in a comprehensive programme of induction and training which ensures new recruits feel able to grow and develop into the role in a safe and supportive way. This makes sure staff are ready to take on their roles in caring for children and young people.
This role requires working a variety of shifts around a 24-hour Rota Monday to Sunday, this will include some sleep-in duties, evenings and a share of weekends and bank holidays if you apply for a contracted post.
