North Yorkshire Council wishes to appoint an experienced and dynamic individual to join the Public Health Team. You will contribute to the delivery of the Seasonal Health Strategy with a specific focus on reducing winter pressures in the system and will possess a range of skills and experience including partnership working, project management, negotiation, analytical skills, and excellent communication skills. You will support the development and implementation of practice across North Yorkshire. You will specifically support the Public Health Managers who lead on topics relating to Seasonal Health, Health Protection and Immunisation.
Specific duties for this post:
- This fixed-term post will support the North Yorkshire Seasonal Health Partnership to ensure the effective delivery of North Yorkshire Seasonal Health Strategy, with a particular focus on developing communications and partnership working for Winter Preparedness and Staying Well in Seasonal Variations.
- The post holder will be a key member of the Public Health team and have a critical role in supporting effective communication and stakeholder engagement between members of the Seasonal Health Partnership including working alongside colleagues within key partner agencies.
- The post holder will work alongside the Head of Early Intervention and Prevention at North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, and other key stakeholders in delivery of the Strategy and Prevention activity.
- The Public Health Practitioner (Seasonal Health) will take a lead in developing a Seasonal Health communications activity plan, stakeholder interventions and engagement.
- The role will work towards development of a suite of resources to deliver Seasonal Health intervention and messaging throughout the year to key population groups across North Yorkshire with a particular focus on Winter Health and overseeing of Winter Resilience, Staying Well in Winter, Funding delivery.
- The post holder will support and foster strong relationships with members of the multi-agency Seasonal Health Partnership, comprising representatives from North Yorkshire Council, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, NHS, VCSE and others. The Partnership is chaired by the Head of Early Intervention and Prevention from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, and supported by the Public Health Manager and Public Health Consultant at North Yorkshire Council leading on Seasonal Health, Health Protection, Immunisations and Climate.
The Practitioner should have evidence of experience of:
- Building and fostering relationships within a diverse sector including the NHS and ICB structures, VCSE, and Local Authority
- Developing a variety of communications
- Partnership working
The postholder is expected to build relationships with partners across North Yorkshire, so the ability to travel across North Yorkshire is required.
This role is a predominantly hybrid role, working from home / other locations, with the main office base being Northallerton, County Hall. The post holder will be expected to travel across North Yorkshire in order to work with partners and build established relationships. The public health team currently have an anchor day in the main County Hall office on a Wednesday and face to face attendance should be prioritised wherever possible. Flexible working is fully supported.
