Benefits Officer

Salary: £28,163- £30,559 per annum

 Grade: G

 Contract: Permanent 

 Hours: 37 hours per week

 Location: Skipton, Selby, Malton, Scarborough and Richmond

We have an opportunity for Benefits Officers to work across the county within our Customer, Revenues and Benefits service.

 You will need to have a proven track record of excellent communication and customer service skills.  You will also have a sound knowledge of the welfare benefits system and experience in a finance related setting.  On-going training is provided to ensure that you are kept up to date with the various and ongoing changes in the welfare benefits system.

Based on the current hybrid (home and office) working arrangements, the office base for this role will be one of five local North Yorkshire Council offices. Please indicate in you supporting evidence which location(s) you are able to have as a base

 

The successful applicant needs to be flexible, dedicated and highly motivated to manage their own workload with appropriate management support.

 

We adopt a more self-service approach assisted by digital technology and therefore, the successful candidate will have the ability to promote online assessment tools and support our customers to make use of those digital facilities as well as an ability to engage with empathy towards the people we support.

Working arrangements are based on a hybrid of home and office-based arrangements.  There will be a minimum expectation to be office based two days a week.
