Job Title: Climate Change Manager (Net Zero Projects Manager) - 3 Vacancies available

Salary: £40,221 to £44,428 per annum

Grade: L

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 37 hours per week

Location:  York/ Hybrid Working    

 

The Opportunity

 

We present an exciting opportunity to join us at the newly formed York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority (CA) to lead on our pioneering ambition to be net zero by 2034 and carbon negative by 2040.  You will play a critical part in delivery of this ambition as you develop and manage a range of net zero projects.  This will be a challenging role but one which will also provide you with the opportunity to evidence your own impact, helping you to progress your experience at a senior level in this sector. 

 

You will be expected to achieve the following key objectives:  

  • Programme manage a portfolio of net zero projects.
  • Provide in-depth support to develop net zero projects, including business case development.
  • Harness both public and private sector investment to enable the delivery of net zero projects and programmes.
  • Support collaboration and knowledge-sharing activities across a range of partners.  

You will work closely with other teams within the Local Enterprise Partnership, alongside the North East and Yorkshire Net Zero Hub, City of York Council, North Yorkshire Council and other partners supporting them contribute to reducing carbon emissions.

What you will bring:

 

You will hold a degree level or equivalent experience in a relevant subject, and have specialist knowledge of one or more of the following subject areas: renewable energy, circular economy, and natural capital as well as a strong understanding of how to develop net zero projects, including business case development. You will have a good understanding of project management principles, with experience of project development, management and monitoring in the context of net zero.

Understanding of local, regional, and national government structures with a good understanding of public and private sector funding models, and current challenges with investment in low carbon projects and reducing carbon emissions and potential solutions to overcome these.

Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, is a must, with the ability to engage, influence, effect change and problem solve and find solutions.
