Are you an experienced and ambitious Solicitor or Lawyer with a passion for commercial contracts and procurement? North Yorkshire Council is looking for a forward-thinking professional to join our successful Legal Service, where you will play a vital role in supporting our diverse range of legal services to the Council and external clients.
About the Role:
As a Commercial Contracts and Procurement Solicitor/Lawyer, you will be responsible for advising on procurement processes, drafting commercial contracts, and providing guidance on grants, subsidy control, company law, and local authority trading. You’ll be part of a dynamic, supportive team, with opportunities to develop your skills across various legal disciplines.
What We’re Looking For:
- A qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or FILEX with a practising certificate
- Demonstrable experience in commercial contracts, procurement, or a related legal area.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, concise legal documents and reports.
- The ability to work effectively with colleagues, clients, and elected Members.
- A knowledge of court procedures and attending court (if relevant).
- Local Authority experience is desirable but not essential.
- A forward-thinking, resilient professional able to provide timely solutions in a fast-paced environment.
