North Yorkshire Music Service is looking for a skilled and enthusiastic music instructor to deliver Rock Band and small group instrumental lessons.

 

Skipton Music Centre is a lively Saturday morning centre, delivering activities for children and adults across a range of instruments and genres. The new post holder will take over our popular Rock Band, arranging and teaching songs for a mixture of instruments and experience levels. They will also teach instrumental lessons in small groups (ideally guitar, singing or drums) for a range of ages and abilities, nurturing confidence and musical development with an inclusive and inspiring approach.

 

Though not essential, the ideal candidate will also contribute to our Music Production ensemble, working with a range of technology to support participants to develop skills in composing, song-writing, recording and sound editing.   

 

The ideal candidate will be creative and enthusiastic, confident in supporting young people at different stages of their musical journey. They will be interested in contributing to the community of the music centre and collaborating with the wider staff team.  

 

Knowledge of music notation (tab and/or stave) and the ability to arrange music for a range of instruments and abilities is essential for this role.

 

This role is for 3.5 hours per week on a Saturday morning, 30 sessions per academic year (pro-rata over 52 weeks). Instructors will be expected to support music centre concerts and events, which may occasionally fall outside of regular Saturday hours and will be paid additionally.

 

Salary: Unqualified Teachers' Pay Scale. Teachers' Benefits and Conditions. The contract is fixed term for one year, to be reviewed after that.
