Location: Either or both our East Barnby & Bewerley Park Centres.

 

  
 An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly team as a Supply Tutor of Outdoor Education with the Outdoor Learning Service based at either or both our East Barnby & Bewerley Park Centres. We are a long-standing Local Authority owned service of over 80 years and have a focus of using inspiring venues in the natural environment to deliver our educational programmes. We would like the successful candidate(s) to be deployable on programme able to run a range of activity for the 2025 season.   

Supply Tutors are paid a daily rate from the Unqualified Teachers Pay Scale of between £97-£160 per day depending on qualifications and experience. This is a supply/relief position for which successful candidates will be recruited onto a 0 hour contract. 

The post also gives access to the desirable teacher pension scheme, has excellent conditions and many personal development opportunities. Most work is Monday to Friday but there is work on weekends where required.   

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic outdoor education professional with experience of delivering high quality outdoor education to a range of clients. This includes primary & secondary school groups, youth and adult groups in an outdoor educational environment.    

 

You should ideally have a selection of the following qualifications as a minimum level of NGB certification:   

Mountain Leader (Summer)  

BC/PUK Paddlesport coach/leader to operate on sheltered water or equivalent qualification 

RYA Dinghy Instructor  

Mountain Bike Level 2 leader  

Rock Climbing Instructor  

Surf Coach Safety & rescue or similar   

 

Experience of leading; gorge/ghyll/beck scrambling, bushcraft, orienteering and delivering outdoor education in the coastal & surf environment is desirable.    

 

There is also a requirement to drive a 17-seater minibus and trailer, so candidates should have a clean driving licence with a D1 and preferably also a +E endorsement. You will be required to complete driver CPC if not already held.
