Whitby Secondary Partnership

The Whitby Secondary Partnership is a federation between Caedmon College Whitby, The Whitby Sixth Form and Eskdale School. This partnership is designed to provide close working between two 11-16 schools and a sixth form. This allows for our staff and students to learn and develop together.

Caedmon College Whitby holds the values ‘Excellence, Friendship, Respect’ and our aim is that all our staff and students strive to embody these values throughout their time at the school.

At Eskdale School our motto is ‘A place of belonging – A place of inspiration’ and our aim is that all our students thrive and make good academic progress whilst developing into resilient, confident and respectful young people.

Across the partnership, staff morale is high and we have a commitment to recognise individual potential and to provide support, CPD and training for colleagues joining our organisation at all levels; you will never feel unsupported or alone in our school.

Our opportunity

In what we believe to be an outstanding opportunity, we are looking to appoint an Advanced Teaching Assistant to provide high quality levels of service to our Targeted Mainstream Communication and Interaction Provision. Our team is a friendly, collaborative and supportive group, consisting of 1 SENCO, 2 LSA’s and Administration Support. We are very excited to have had the opportunity to develop our provision further for children with significant communication and interaction needs for our Federation, building on our existing specialist SEND provision. Our new targeted provision area provides an inclusive space specifically designed and equipped to support children with a range of communication and interaction needs. This may include children with a diagnosis of autism, speech and language difficulties or children who present with challenges in their social interactions. The provision will be needs’ led rather than diagnosis led.

The aim of the department as a whole, is to ensure the provision of an inclusive, bespoke education model for up to 8 children, to enable them to meet their individual academic and social potential. Each child will require a personalised timetable and educational programme, which the ATA for the provision will assist with. A key focus for the department is to build on the strengths and successes, and as our ATA, you will work closely with the team who will support, develop and challenge you.

We are looking for someone who can grow and further develop into being a highly effective Advanced Teaching Assistant, as well as someone who has the drive and ambition to make sure our students achieve their very best.

We can offer you

  •  A supportive, collaborative team who openly share ideas and best practice
  •  A wider network within The Whitby Secondary Partnership Federation
  •  A school community that prides itself on engagement, generosity, dignity and inspiration
  •  Access to NHS Mental health and Wellbeing support services
  •  Opportunities for CPD and career progression

We encourage applications from candidates who have a passion for supporting students in their education with individual needs and who wish to work in a setting which offers rewards and challenges, where no two days are the same.

Candidates will be required to have relevant experience to support the students in this targeted provision in their teaching and learning and wider development.

You will:

  • Have suitable previous experience in working with children and young people, with a passion for developing their practice and knowledge further to best support the students in the provision
  • Be able to support in the delivery of high-quality learning experiences for all students.
  • Be supportive, nurturing and understanding.
  • Seek to make learning exciting and a positive experience.
  • Enjoy working as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate good communication skills both orally and in writing
