What You’ll Do

As a Ganger, you’ll lead and inspire a skilled team to deliver high-quality highways maintenance and construction works. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising and motivating a team of at least four operatives.
  • Ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to specification.
  • Carrying out skilled tasks such as kerbing, drainage, footway and carriageway construction, patching, and ironwork renewal.
  • Managing traffic control, site inductions, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Maintaining accurate site records using handheld devices.
  • Coaching and mentoring your team while working collaboratively with partners and stakeholders.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience leading teams in highways or civil engineering environments.
  • Skills in drainage, kerbing, resurfacing, and street furniture installation.
  • A relevant Level 2 qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and risk management.
  • Confidence using plant and equipment, with ability to plan and calculate materials.
  • Flexibility to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including occasional unsocial hours.
  • Willingness to train in Banksman, Manual Handling, Traffic Management (TM1/TM2), and operated plant (360 excavator, dumper, roller).
