We are a nurturing school and need to expand our team of teaching assistants. Set in over 20 acres of stunning countryside, Welburn Hall School is situated in the market town of Kirkbymoorside; nestled on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. With dedicated staff, fantastic facilities and beautiful buildings, we create a calm and inspiring place to learn, live and work.
A North Yorkshire Council maintained special school, we have a strong reputation for excellence; offering a dynamic, innovative and unique learning journey for pupils aged 8 to 19 years, with a wide range of moderate and severe learning difficulties. Welburn Hall also boasts a vibrant and successful 6th Form College, catering for young people between the ages of 16 and 19.

Our Opportunity
Our curriculum for students in the College is an inspiring and enriching model designed to develop independent enquirers, creative thinkers, team workers, self-managers, effective participators and reflective learners. Many of our pupils have an individualised learning journey which will not always lead to academic achievement that can be measured in the manner of mainstream schools.
Our Key Stage 4 curriculum covers maths, English, science, and computing at its core; as well as humanities, performing arts, food tech, and personal development education. Our Key Stage 5 curriculum covers useful everyday knowledge and life skills, such as E-safety, sending emails, employability, and vocational courses.
This is an ideal opportunity for candidates looking to ‘test the waters’ of working in a special school. You will be a key figure in supporting and preparing students for life beyond Welburn Hall.
You will have the enthusiasm and resilience to work with children and young people who have a wide variety of needs including:
- Autistic spectrum disorder
- Moderate and severe learning difficulties
- Speech, language and communication
Skills & Qualifications
- The ability to cater for the different learning styles of pupils with a range of learning difficulties
- You will be a very good classroom practitioner who consistently makes learning memorable, impacting on all students to make good progress
- Qualified Teacher Status
The ability to teach more than one subject and demonstrate a proven successful track record in a comparable SEND setting, will be advantageous.
Primary or Secondary trained candidates may apply; this includes those teachers that are specialists in their subject matter.
