About The Role
North Yorkshire Council is committed to protecting public health and maintaining a safe environment for residents and businesses. We are seeking a Qualified Pest Control Officer to join our Regulatory Services team. This role is vital in delivering high-quality pest control services, supporting our statutory duties, and promoting community well-being.
This role will be worked across Central and Eastern areas (Northallerton, Thirsk, Pickering, Malton).
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out pest control treatments in domestic, commercial, and public premises in line with council policies and legal requirements.
- Respond to service requests promptly and professionally, ensuring excellent customer care.
- Provide advice and guidance to residents and businesses on pest prevention and control measures.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, treatments, and follow-up visits using council systems.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and COSHH regulations.
- Support wider environmental enforcement and public health initiatives as required.
Essential Requirements
- RSPH Level 2 Award in Pest Management (or equivalent).
- Experience in pest control operations, preferably within a local authority or similar setting.
- Knowledge of pest biology, treatment techniques, and safe pesticide use.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse communities.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with local authority procedures and statutory responsibilities.
- IT skills for case management and reporting.
- Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.
