Relief School Crossing Patrol

Salary: £12.85- £13.47 per hour

Location: Selby, North Yorkshire – Selby Area Schools

 

This is a relief position with no guaranteed hours of work each week. Hours and duties will be notified as required to cover sickness/holiday and additional ad hoc call outs, often at short notice.

The role involves standing and walking outdoors in all weathers. You should have a good understanding of road use and traffic awareness, be punctual and enjoy working with the public.

You will be responsible, reliable and will play an important role in ensuring the safety of children crossing the road on the way to and from school. You will also have the communication skills to deal with young people and drivers clearly and effectively. Full induction training and a uniform will be provided.

The Role

Duty timesas required, Monday- Friday   

Our school crossing patrols provide a valuable service to the local community by ensuring that children and adults can cross the road safely on their route to and from school.

Your duties will include:

  • Ensure safe road crossing for children and pedestrians during patrol times
  • Stop traffic using the official ‘STOP’ sign
  • Conduct pre-duty health and safety checks of the crossing site
  • Report any hazards, equipment issues, or site concerns to the Patrol Officer
  • Wear and maintain approved uniform and equipment
