The Opportunity
The York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority is seeking to appoint a Transport Planning and Strategy Manager. This is a new post that will be responsible for developing transport plans and strategies for the Combined Authority in its role as Local Transport Authority, then working with a range of partners to put those plans and strategies in place.
This is an exciting role that will offer the successful candidate a chance to work with the Mayor to shape transport policies for our area and develop a delivery team once plans are in place. Working within a small but growing team, this is a great opportunity for a self-starter with transport planning knowledge, who wants to contribute to the growth of our team and develop a career within the Combined Authority.
What you will bring
· Knowledge of current transport planning practices in respect of developing plans, strategies and programmes.
· Knowledge of transport's role in the land use planning process.
· Knowledge of the principles and practices of effective people management, excellent customer service, appropriate risk management and budget management.
· Experience of managing multiple tasks in a complex programme environment.
· Experience of managing and motivating a dispersed staff group.
· Ability to work in a collaborative manner in order to achieve the Mayor’s priorities, plans and strategies.
· Ability to lead statutory and discretionary consultation activities based on best practice techniques and methods, eliciting stakeholder and public views on transport plans, programmes and schemes.
· A relevant transport qualification/accreditation, or a demonstrable equivalent level of previous experience in a similar transport role.
