About us
We are a nurturing school and need to expand our team of teaching assistants. Set in over 20 acres of stunning countryside, Welburn Hall School is situated in the market town of Kirkbymoorside; nestled on the edge of the North York Moors National Park.  With dedicated staff, fantastic facilities and beautiful buildings, we create a calm and inspiring place to learn, live and work.  
 
A North Yorkshire Council maintained special school, we have a strong reputation for excellence; offering a dynamic, innovative and unique learning journey for pupils aged 8 to 19 years, with a wide range of physical disabilities or learning difficulties. Welburn Hall also boasts a vibrant and successful 6th Form College, catering for young people between the ages of 16 and 19.

Our Opportunity
You will be working closely with the class teacher to support the delivery of lessons, adjusting activities according to the pupil needs and responses. You will act a second pair of ears and eyes for the teacher, observing pupil’s performance and behaviour, drawing any issues to the teacher's attention. As well as interacting with pupils you will also support the teaching team by preparing classroom materials ready for fun-filled lessons. 
 
You will have the enthusiasm and resilience to work with children and young people who have a wide variety of needs including: 
  • Autistic spectrum disorder
  • Moderate and severe learning difficulties
  • Speech, language and communication
Skills & Qualifications
  • An awareness of child/young person’s development and learning
  • An awareness of the needs of children and young people with learning, sensory and physical difficulties
  • Experience of working with children and young people
  • NVQ level 2 qualification in supporting teaching and learning or equivalent or achievement within a reasonable timescale.
