Our Opportunity

We are looking for an exceptional experienced Teacher to join our thriving primary school situated in the heart of the Yorkshire coast.  This position is not suitable for ECTs.  Ideally, we are looking for someone who is already a SENDCo or who has the passion to be an assistant SENDCo, willing to do the SENDCo qualification.

Here at Gladstone Road Primary school, we provide a friendly and inspirational education setting for our staff and children. As a four-form primary school you join the largest primary team (in the area) who will support and challenge you in your practice.

Set in the heart of Scarborough, we are very much an extension of local families and communities, and we pride ourselves on being able to offer more than just ‘schooling’. Being part of #teamglaggo means you will be part of a forward thinking, evolving, individual school.

We welcomed our experienced Headteacher in January 2020 and since then, have overhauled our curriculum, leadership structure, provision, and learning environments. We have a committed, talented and cohesive staff, delightful children and strong and supportive Governors – every one of us united to build a school we can all be proud of.

We now have an opportunity for a Y5 class based experienced teacher to work alongside our Inclusion Team as an Assistant SENDCO.  It is desirable that you will already be a SENDCo or have the passion and experience to become one by completing the relevant course.  You would join our teaching colleagues, who are all supported and challenged in their teaching practice and career aspirations. You will be on your way within the profession as an excellent classroom practitioner, and also be able to demonstrate subject leadership expertise as the role will involve responsibility for a key subject area. We would love the opportunity to see you thrive and develop your career here at Gladstone Road.

Working in our school is incredibly rewarding. Our support staff are highly regarded, and we pride ourselves on developing our support colleagues to excel and further develop their career through specialised training and career paths.

We encourage applications from candidates who have a passion for education and wish to work in a setting which offers reward and challenge. A resilient, robust and positive mindset are required.

You will be/possess:

  • SENDCo experience and the willingness to support our Inclusion Team as Assistant SENDCo with release time to do this well
  • A track record of raising both pupil attainment and standards of teaching and learning in your phase
  • A strong vision and ethos that supports our values and culture.
  •  A professional who has an engaging and compelling style of teaching which fosters independence and resilience and inspires children to follow their interests and ambitions.Someone who has the drive and ambition to make sure our children achieve their very best, and has a proven record of raising standards for all children
  •  A teacher with a flair and passion for primary education who will embrace working and teaching within our ‘family’ – and bring new ideas and practices to engage both the children and the staff.

We can offer you:

  •  A school with a renewed focus who puts pastoral and nurture provision at its heart and an aspirational outlook for our children
  •  Happy, enthusiastic children who are thriving and have a thirst for learning
