The organisation

 

York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority was formed in February 2024. We are led by the elected York and North Yorkshire mayor, David Skaith and Cabinet which covers two local authority areas of York and North Yorkshire.

The Opportunity

 

This is a dynamic role placing you at the heart of the Authority, supporting the mayor on all correspondence and casework enquiries. You will be part of a small team which links across all areas of the Combined Authority, offering you a great way to see how things operate across the organisation. You will be responsible for scanning incoming correspondences to highlight any issues arising across the region, liaising with the mayor and his team, and the Combined Authority’s wider policy and strategy teams. As a Correspondence and Caseworker you will be responsible for preparing briefings for the Mayor and ensuring that queries from residents and organisations are addressed efficiently and effectively.

 

Key Responsibilities

-        The coordination of responses to correspondence received by the mayor and Combined Authority

-        Managing a large and varied range of correspondence, assessing the information needed to respond, working with colleagues across the organisation to draft responses

-        Providing a link between the Mayor and the Combined Authority’s wider policy and strategy team ensuring communications is delivered on time

 

What you will bring

-        An interest in national, local and regional policy context and how this impacts the work of the CA and Mayor

-        Ability to use initiative and partner with other internal teams

-        Good written and verbal communication skills

-        Excellent organisational skills including being able to prioritise workloads and manage deadlines

-        Excellent IT skills

-        Attention to detail
