Applefields School are seeking to recruit multiple part time Teaching Assistant Level 4 based at Applefields School and satellite sites. These posts are Fixed Terms contracts until the end of August 2026 to start as soon as possible. We are keen to support applicants who may be looking for reduced or flexible hours. Please indicate on your application form which hours you might be looking for and this can be discussed at the interview if successfully shortlisted.

 

The successful applicants will be confident and capable to plan and lead teaching and learning, have a good level of IT skills and work with the teacher to evidence learning and contribute to EHCPs. They will be able to direct and support other teaching assistants and support workers within the class. They will be an effective communicator to liaise with parents and other professionals and record using the PBS cloud. They will undertake CPD and further their professional development by taking on responsibilities that meet their skills and support the needs of the school.

 

These posts provide classroom support to students across all provisions in our school, including those with moderate, severe and SEMH needs, children with additional needs on the Autistic spectrum, challenging behaviours, complex medical needs, and PMLD; recognising children as individuals as described in the SEND Code of Practice 2014.

 

The successful candidates will work as a member of the class team supporting our students’ access to the curriculum and the development of their communication, personal, and social independence skills.

  • Be confident supporting children with behaviours that challenge.
  • Be confident in supporting and intervening in potentially physically demanding situations.
  • Be a strong advocate of inclusion.
  • Be confident to accept responsibility and work independently, able to demonstrate initiative and have flexible attitude to the challenging demands of working with children and young people with additional and complex needs.
  • Be able to work collaboratively.
  • Be a reflective practitioner who aligns their values with the needs of the school.
  • Be committed to continued professional development, via self-directed training and leadership lead feedback.
