Our Mental Health Social Care Team are looking for an Approved Mental Health Professional to join them in the Scarborough AMHP Hub.

 

We are looking for an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) who will complete Mental Health Act assessments across the county of North Yorkshire. Your role will be to offer support in the community and hospital, with the focus on working together with service users’ to enhance their independence and quality of life. You will be expected to undertake safeguarding enquiries and investigations, training is available to support you with this. The work can be complex and challenging and you will be supported to manage this with regular supervision, training, and opportunities to consult where necessary senior colleagues. You will hold a small caseload of complex cases in addition to AMHP duties.

 

We offer a range of flexible working hours and can accommodate a variety of working patterns in line with ensuring service needs are still met. 

 

Supported by your peers and Team Manager you will be located within our mental health social care team. The teams work to support people with mental health experiences and their carers. The work gives you an excellent opportunity to flourish in a challenging yet stimulating work environment, demonstrating your expertise and ability to work in line with legislation, policies, and guidelines.

 

To join us, you will be a qualified AMHP with an appropriate qualification in a relevant discipline and a registered professional. With a broad knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice you will have the confidence to conduct complex assessments independently and to win the trust of carers, agencies, and other contacts.

 

In addition to this, you will benefit from being part of a supportive organisation and team as all Approved Mental Health Professionals will attend a monthly peer supervision, and regular forums and training are provided over the course of the year to ensure CPD requirements are met.

 

You will take part in the AMHP rota, covering triage and responder shifts, and in order to promote a healthy home and work life balance and to support the needs of the service, when on the AMHP rota you will be asked to work flexibly.

 

Whilst you would be based within one locality, we are a busy service area, and you’ll support your colleagues with MHA assessments across the county as and when required. We are supported with modern technology and accessibility to enable flexibility and agility with working from other work bases or from home and different shift patterns of work, centred on the needs of our customers and the achievement of visible leadership.
