Counsellor: Scarborough Sixth Form College

Salary: £26,097 - £28,549 pro rata per annum
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 20 per week, term time only

We are seeking a committed, enthusiastic, qualified counsellor to join our Counselling Team

The Counselling Service at Scarborough Sixth Form College is a well-established resource that fosters strong collaborative relationships with college staff. Our service not only provides consultations and guidance for staff seeking support for their students but also offers therapeutic services for staff members themselves.

The Counselling Service comprises of a Lead Counsellor (who is responsible for the running of the service and for supporting and managing team members) and trainee counsellors on placement.

The counselling service adheres closely to the BACP ethical framework and all counsellors are required to have 1.5 hours of clinical supervision (external supervisors) a month. Continuing professional development is expected and encouraged.

This small team works closely to provide the best service possible to students and staff, by all members contributing to continually evolving best practice and by monitoring client feedback. The counselling undertaken is mainly short-term and so applicants should be confident in, and be able to evidence experience of, appropriate approaches/models. The work is sometimes demanding but very rewarding.

The successful candidate will be appointed within points 11 - 14 of the College’s Support Staff salary structure, currently £26,097 - £28,549 for full time. Actual salary will be pro-rata to the hours and weeks worked. You will be eligible to join the Local Government Pension Scheme.

Employment is on a permanent, term time only basis, working 20 hours per week, commencing as soon as the successful candidate is available following recruitment and safeguarding checks.

For further information please see separate documents; Additional Information, Job Description and Person Specification.
