Utility Technician - NY Highways (Countywide)

Utility Technician

Salary:
£33,849 up to £36,469 per year (Grade 6)
Location: Countywide (Richmond/Northallerton), North Yorkshire
Contract: Full time, permanent position, 40 hours per week

Benefits: Company Van, 24 days holiday, plus bank holidays, plus performance-based pay progression, company pension, discounts and more.

Are you a detail-oriented highways professional with experience in site surveying and ensuring safety on site? We are seeking a Utility Technician to join our team, responsible for surveying sites and identifying underground services, hazards, and overhead power lines.

If you're confident in reading and interpreting complex utility drawings, and you can effectively communicate your findings to the wider team, we would like to hear from you. You will use equipment such as ground radar, CAT scan, and Genny, to conduct site investigations and testing, especially when clear and detailed plans are not available.

Your responsibilities will include conducting thorough site surveys before and during active operations, accurately locating, identifying, marking up, and recording underground services and overhead power lines.

Living and working in North Yorkshire is very rewarding, and we seek a candidate who can travel and attend sites across the County, ideally based in the Richmond or Northallerton area. Your experience in highways activities, combined with strong communication skills and IT literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, will make you a great fit for this role.

You will be provided with a company van for site access and work-related travel, so holding a current UK Driver’s Licence is essential. If you also have an LGV licence, there are additional opportunities for overtime and seasonal standby payments through our winter gritting and summer standby services.

If you're ready to contribute to our team and take on this important role, we encourage you to apply.
