Location: Whitby School and Sixth Form
Contract: Permanent

ATA Hours/ Working Pattern: Full-time (32.5 hours per week) or part-time considered with the successful candidates, term-time only

HLTA Hours / Working Pattern: Part-time (6.5 hours, one day a week) term-time only
 
ATA Pay: Grade C/D £12.00 - £12.38 per hour, £23,114 - £23,893 per annum FTE + SEN Allowance
HLTA Pay: Grade F £13.02 - £13.93 per hour, £25,119 - £26,873 per annum FTE 
 
 
Closing Date: 9am, Monday 10th June 2024
Start Date: 1st September 2024 (with the possibility of starting sooner, subject to availability)

Our opportunity
This is an outstanding opportunity to join our new secondary school (with sixth form provision) and work with teachers to support teaching and learning by working with individuals or small groups of students under the direction of teaching staff/the SENCo. The postholder may be asked to work across our two sites, or in an area of specialist provision, such as in our Alternative Provision facility, as directed by the SENCo.

 

You will:
  • Be able to provide one-to-one, small group and in-class support for students, under the direction of the class teacher and Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator.  
  • Be confident and empathetic working with students who have a range of support needs, which can include physical, learning, emotional and behavioural needs. 
  • Have good literacy, numeracy and interpersonal skills and have experience of supporting and working with students with a range of additional learning needs.
  • Have suitable experience of working in a school environment with students and possesses an understanding of the importance of safeguarding children in a school setting.

The successful candidate will:
  • For the ATA role you will need relevant NVQ Level 3 or equivalent 
  • For the HLTA role you will need relevant HLTA status or QTS
  • Have suitable previous experience in working with children and young people, with a passion for developing their practice and knowledge further to best support the students in the provision.
  • Be able to support in the delivery of high-quality learning experiences for all students. 
  • Be supportive, nurturing and understanding. 
  • Seek to make learning exciting and a positive experience.
  • Enjoy working as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate good communication skills both orally and in writing.
