Our Team
Economic development can encompass work to deliver built infrastructure such as roads and buildings, community-based initiatives such as programmes to help people back into work, skills and training initiatives and activity to develop or regenerate town centres and public spaces. Economic development is a broad discipline to work in, the challenges are varied and almost always new, and the job satisfaction is great. Being flexible, quick to learn, enthusiastic and imaginative are key attributes in this role along with the ability to appreciate local needs and the aspirations of local communities.
About the Role
Under the overall direction of your line manager, you will undertake a wide range of project support activities relating to the council’s Plan for Economic Growth. Working with external partners on a series of projects, including supporting and developing external funding applications, creating innovation networks with the public and private sectors. You will undertake a range of project activities relating to programme management, research, and partnership development reporting back findings to a number of service areas. These activities may include Collect, collate, and analyse data; Produce project reports; Research information and services; develop funding applications. You will also undertake, with supervision, projects of a varying nature and complexity. The post will be based at Co-Lab Harrogate, but with flexibility to work from home and in locations across North Yorkshire.
About You – Essential Requirements
- Educated to first degree level
- Awareness of local government or the wider public sector
- Awareness of change management
- Good working knowledge of data analysis techniques
- Good understanding of how policies/procedures can be applied in practice to result in required outcomes
- Problem solving skills and the ability to find innovative solutions.
- Experience of project work
- Flexibility and ability to work on own initiative
- Ability to travel across the County.
- Interest in and knowledge of the business world
