Salary: From £29,269 up to £32,076 per annum pro rata

Hours: Part time/ 18.5 hours - we can be flexible with days to suit yourself and the service 

Contract: Permanent

Location: Harrogate Locality but may need to cover areas within North Yorkshire if necessary

 

We have a fantastic opportunity to join our team as a Temporary Accommodation Officer within our Housing Service supporting the residents of Harrogate locality.

We would love to hear from you if you are passionate about helping vulnerable people, empathetic and have an understanding of the needs of homeless people.

 

Within this role you will carry out housing management functions in relation to temporary accommodation for homeless households, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the accommodation and ensuring residents have access to support officers whilst residing within the service and ensure properties are maintained to a high standard as well as working with vulnerable individuals who have multiple complex needs and carry out room checks and welfare checks.

 

You will arrange the inspection of properties from vacation, clearance, repairs, and lettings, to ensure vacancy periods and income loss are minimised. Ensuring all relevant paperwork is completed at sign up, fully explaining the conditions of occupancy to the resident and are responsible for organising the collection of temporary accommodation charges from residents in the council’s own temporary accommodation. 

 

The role requires you to be responsible to maintaining breaches of licence within the accommodation are resolved promptly and satisfactorily in accordance with the council’s approved policies and procedures.

 

What you will bring

 

This is a very challenging yet rewarding role that does require someone who is resilient, has empathy and patience to deal with clients in difficult situations. You will also be able to manage your time effectively and priorities workload.

 

Working with vulnerable individuals and having this experience as well as an awareness of safeguarding procedures is required and having a good working knowledge and understanding of the Homeless Reduction Act 2017 is required.

 

This role requires you to be on an out of hours stand by rota on an occasional basis (which will be 2 weeks of the year) is required.
