We have vacancies in Skipton for HGV Refuse Drivers.

The role

Based at our Skipton depot, the rounds cover miles of countryside, rural villages, and the relatively larger towns. You will be provided with routes on a weekly basis, where you will need to safely navigate your vehicle and crew through, ensuring that residents obtain the excellent and friendly service they expect.

Your role as our Refuse Driver is a hugely important one as you will be on the front-line of a key service.  The role is one that can naturally lead onto further supervisor or operational management roles, or further development opportunities to move into another of our vast services. You will be working in a supportive environment with regular supervision and many staff benefits.

Roles and Responsibilities:

·       Responsible for the safe operation of Large Goods Vehicles [LGV] up to 32t.

·       Ensuring the vehicle is clean and in good working order.

·       Day to day supervision of the collection team, ensuring that all safe working practices, including wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and vehicles are implemented consistently.

·       Following all guidance and instruction in the emptying of the vehicle at any transfer/disposal site.

·       Undertaking dynamic risk assessments and liaison with line management on any issues arising.

·       Ensuring all manoeuvres are completed safely and in line with instructions and training, including the use of reversing assistants.

·       Comply with all required training as requested and ongoing responsibilities around vocational licences.

·       Collection and emptying of receptacles, ensuring high levels of customer service – removing spillages, checking of service lists, and reporting instances outside of acceptable presentation – over-weight, contamination, damaged receptacle, lapsed contract etc.

·       Ensuring all assisted/communal collections are completed and receptacles returned, where appropriate.

·       To work as a team to ensure services are completed and responsive to external factors.

·       To take responsibility for the correct reporting of accidents and act as the appointed person within the team for first aid.

·       Takes ownership of customer issues and ensures that they are resolved.

·       Supervision of the crew to ensure they operate safely and effectively on a day-to-day basis.
