Trading Standards Officer

Salary: £42, 839 to £47,181 per annum

Grade: L

Contract: Permanent 

Hours: 37 per week, Full Time 

Location: Northallerton, North Yorkshire

 

We are looking for a suitably qualified Trading Standards Officer, who will specialise in Food Standards delivery of the Farming, Food and Health (Regulatory Services) team in England’s largest county.

 

The Role

We are looking to recruit a trading standards officer, who ideally has experience of food standards inspections, samples and enforcement, to join our team.

The main areas of responsibility will include contributing towards an annual programme of food standards inspections, across a range of food businesses including caterers, retailers and manufacturers.  The team also works closely with Public Health colleagues, looking to reduce the incidence of obesity, so there will be the opportunity for the successful candidate to be involved in a variety of projects.

Hybrid working is available for this position, with our offices located in Northallerton.

 

Skills and Experience

We welcome applications from qualified trading standards officers with broad experience across multiple areas. You will lead on complex investigations and provide guidance to North Yorkshire based businesses including those under a Primary Authority partnership. You will also have opportunity to present cases in the Magistrates’ court.

North Yorkshire Council supports staff through membership of CTSI which will allow you access to the CPPD scheme.
